Riptide’s colour for the month of August is Gold, so let’s talk about some golden food, which is basically me referring to Zomato Gold. This novel policy has been around for almost 2 years to increase the number of dine-ins in a world that is getting clouded (and lazy) by “ordering in”. Here are my top 6 picks for this month where you can enjoy Zomato Gold as well as some amazing food in Mumbai.
Canto Cafe and Bar Located at Charni Road
Canto is a well known “chilling” spot. It gives you the vibes of a fancy dine in and they’ve got an open bar too. They’ve got brilliant offers during their happy hours from 4pm-8pm everyday too. Do try the Harissa Chicken Pizza and the Mushroom Risotto, these two were a highlight. Canto is now also opened up at Lower Parel (in case you don’t like to go the distance).
Jamie’s Pizzeria by Jamie Oliver
If you go here, you can’t not call for the Quattro Formaggio, its one of the very few places that serves a cheese pizza with the Béchamel cheese in it. And if you probably want to try more on the menu, go for the Penne Arrabbiata (in pink sauce, not red), the chef has his magic touch for this one. And if you’ve gone for a Sunday brunch, a glass of wine is gonna be the cherry on the cake.
Indizza – The delivery kitchen
Alright this is more of a takeaway place but there are a couple of seats. Ignoring that, the food is amazing! And this might be an understatement. Start with the Chole Pindi and Laccha Paratha. Follow it up with a serving of Butter Chicken and Butter Naan if you’ve got the appetite. And lastly, end with jeera rice and dal makkhani. And believe me, you will overeat.
Lilt
The next place on your food hop needs to be Lilt. They’ve got brilliant Chinese, Thai and Asian food (very close to the authentic cuisine and not the Indian version of it). Do try the Pepper Garlic Prawns, the spice in it is marvelous. Top that up with some Grilled Fish in Lemon Caper Sauce. And finally, end your meal with an American Cheese Cake (unfortunately they don’t have mochi ice cream otherwise that’s a perfect dessert for such a meal).
JLWA
Unlike the other ones, JLWA is not primarily a dine-in as much as it is a club. Bandra is a hub for nightlife and JLWA is one that stands out. They’ve got great DJs especially for the weekends and Tuesdays. The ambiance of the place is beautiful and the lights’ setting looks very aesthetic (you’re gonna get lovely low light images). And of course, they have gold on their dishes so you’ve got double to munch on while partying.
Aromas Cafe and Bistro
Aromas is a chain of restaurants across the suburbs serving some excellent continental food. They cover all kinds of diets, whether you’re on a vegetarian spree, keto, gluten free or vegan diet (seriously why though?). I would highly recommend you to begin with the Lamb Burger, its cooked really well. You can also go in for the Cajun Prawns, Aromas gets Cajun sauce right. Coming to the mains, the Stroganoff is beautifully made (yes the vegetarian one too). Accompany this with with a peach or watermelon mojito. End your meal with a classic chocolate dish, the Choco Decadence and for some reason if you’re someone who can’t deal with chocolate (seriously, why again?), try the Dulce De Leche, its a caramel treat.
So these were my top 6 picks, if you want me to cover a particular restaurant, then leave a note in the comments.
